I have played in symphonic orchestras for 9 years as a violinist, and have taken lessons for 15 years. In high school I was chosen 3 years in a row to participate in the Montana All State Music Festival which brings together the best young musicians in the state to work with a well-known conductor, and culminating in a public performance of a major work of music.
I am currently in my second year as a first violinist with the MSU Symphony Orchestra.
I also enjoy writing and arranging music, for myself and for others. My friend and I were chosen to perform several of my arrangements at a TED Talk in 2015.
I also play the guitar and mandolin. I play fiddle in a bluegrass/country band, The Dirt Farmers, which is popular in the Gallatin Valley. I have worked as part of many string quartets, trios, and duets for weddings and events around the Gallatin Valley, and am occasionally called on to bring together a group to play at various functions by Shawna Lockhart, a long time Bozeman music scene veteran.
I have recorded music for Music Lingua, and have recorded music for a documentary which is still being filmed by local filmmaker Jason Burlage.
